Asia Pacific Telecentre Network (APTN)

Focus Areas

APTN will focus on broad ICT4D and identified the following areas to work on:

  1. eAgriculture and livelihood
  2. Telecentre (Broadly, shared access points
  3. Women empowerment & entrepreneurship
  4. Rural e-Commerce and SME
  5. Social Media for addressing social causes
  6. Knowledge management in Climate Change
  7. eWaste (Advocacy and Capacity Building)
  8. Safe Internet for Children (Child Protection)

The Network of Telecentres

Around 126,000 (Approx.) telecentres are spread over 8 member countries with maximum penetration in India followed by Bangladesh. Different actors (Public sector, NGO, Private sector and Hi-Breed) and models of telecentres are functional within the network.
